"Gather Ye Rosebuds While Ye May" is a poem by Robert Herrick. This poem portrays our existence on earth, and that people age as life goes on, and everything becomes boundless. Herrick here urges people to take advantage of youth and energy while they may! The poem is in the genre of carpe diem, to seize the day.

6 Pack... Or NOT!?

My coworkers ordered the 6 Pack from Burger King earlier for lunch today, and I have read on Frankom about it and that it wasnt really six mini burgers, but rather three burgers and each one of which is inside two mini buns. I had to ask my coworkers to snap away some pictures.. so Thanks Hamad for letting me take pictures of your food *and most likely think of me as a crazy lady with a camera taking pictures of other people's food*

And by the way... Hamad said they sucked! They were bland and with only on option of having it with ketchup, mustard, and pickles!

I was looking forward to trying them since I LOVE their burgers (Whoppers)... the meat is so good hmmm! But maybe not the 6 Pack! I will stick to my Whoppers hehehe

Lost n' Found!

I came back home from work and was looking for my closet keys... I could not find them anywhere in my bag! So I took out everything out of it and discovered a little hole... sticked my finger there and got out more than just a key.... I am so excited! I have been looking for that Swiss Army USB since 2005/06 and THAT MB pen... I kinda forgot about it LOL!

Bad Mood

Phone vibrates *keep in mind that we had this number (my phone number now) in the family since more than 15 years ago ohhhh and that I am in such a BAD mood*

Ansam: Hello
Caller: Hello!!! Isn't this Nasser's number!!!?!!!??!!???
Ansam: No.. wrong number
Caller: WHAT!?
Ansam: Wroooong number!!
Caller: Well... I dont believe this! This number is my brother's, Nasser, number! and....

*Hangs up*

Toot toot

I am not in a state of mind to talk to her specially when she is thinking that I have "Nasser's" number... whoever he is!!! Now, if she calls again, I will let one of my male co-workers answers as Nasser! LOL

UPDATE:
I also cant stand the tea-boy sipping on his milk n' tea with some slurp slurp noises! ewwwww!!!!

Pete Wentz: "I've Tasted" Ashlee's Breast Milk

Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz

TMI Alert, Take 2!

Following up on his raunchy December 16 interview with Howard Stern, Pete Wentz revealed that wife Ashlee Simpson's breast milk tastes "soury" and "weird" on SIRIUS' The Morning Mash Up! on Monday.

The Fall Out Boy bassist, 29, may not be a fan, but Ashlee and Pete's newborn Bronx Mowgli is: "The baby loves it, it’s the only thing he’s had a chance to have."

Wentz went on to reveal that Ashlee isn't the only Wentz to put on some pregnancy weight: "I gained 10 pounds at least. I usually hang out around 135, 134, I go up to about 140, and when I hit 148, I get fat face."

He added, "I’m working out a little bit, trying…I mean last night I decided to eat Virgil’s [BBQ] at midnight which is never a good idea…I’m feeling that a little bit today. For the most part, we’re going on walks – that kind of stuff. I think it comes off easier for her because she gets to breast feed and I don’t have the luxury of doing that."

Charlie Bit Me

Thanks DJF

Omar Regan is NOT Chris Tucker!

I keep receiving this email about Chris Tucker converting to Islam! This is like the 7th time I get the exact same email stating that Chris Tucker converted and changed his name to Omar Regan!

Wrong!

Correction:
Chris Tucker is NOT Omar Regan. They are TWO different people
Omar Regan was Tucker's double in the movie Rush Hour

These are the pics from the bloggerettes potluck.
I really had fun with you girls.... we should do it more often :-D

Enjoy the pics ;-)

518

A lot of times when I check out what time it is, it reads 5:18! (ansam518 refers to Ansam May 18 = My birthday)... I told my friend that and she said mostly when she look at her mobile... it reads 11:11...

Isn't that interesting? Do I make sense? Do you get that? Check the time to find out it reads a certain time/number often?

Argan Oil

I first tried Argan Oil at a friend's house.... and then bought my first bottle from an organic food supplier and been enjoying the "aroma" and taste. I have been advertising it like crazy telling my friends and family that they have to try it and buy it and God knows what! *I am sorry*

OK, so my coworker is Moroccan and I asked him about it and he had this sweet smile on his face... I was like "What?" and he answered "Do you know how it is prepared?" and he kinda explained it to me... I could not wait to go back home and throw the bottle away.. I also HAD to check it online and guess what!! He was RIGHT!

I feel sick... (click here to know how its prepared). I only read the traditional method and my stomach was acting funny on me.. I did not proceed! So please peeps.... tell me, are there any differences in the preparation methods mentioned?

*Barf *

Under The Weather

I think I am getting sick...
Sick of....
  • the weather (as in flu + sore throat)
  • having to talk to some people when I am too busy to be doing so (not saying who but will give examples later in the post)
  • insomnia! Yeah I have been sleeping at around 2:00AM or later for over a week now... this is a problem because I am usually in bed by 10:30-11
  • headache... is it normal to have a headache for over 10 days!? I have been avoiding the painkillers because they are not helping much anyway... and been using more of natural remedies like 4head and such! Its still not going away ;'-(
  • feeling nauseous! Yeah at some points I am just really sick of the headache that I wanna throw up (sorry for sharing too much unnecessary info LOL)
I sometimes say nice things to others and expect them to feel good about it but not question why I'm being nice and that I am saying it because I want something in return! Or have someone interrupt me, while I am really trying hard to concentrate, just to say something silly.. super silly. I would be so deep into my thoughts trying to figure something out or working on something and have someone going.. "Ansam... Ansam?? ANSAM??" and when I look up to that person... "You look really busy... hehehe" ughhhhhhhhhhhh!

I think I need a vaccation and I am not talking about a four days vaccation... I need like a minimum of 10 days outside Kuwait in some remote area where I can really clear my head and feel disconnected for a while.

Some friends -and I am sorry if you are one of those friends and get to read this- ask me to do simple tasks on their behalf... as simple as making a call for them!

And now I have a runny nose and feel tired and I think I am really gonna get sick JUST IN TIME FOR THE WEEKEND!

PS: I edited this post A LOT! I keep finding mistakes here and there... so I am giving up on finding more mistakes... the headache is not helping!

Rebranding During Crisis

Hilarious!

Very Berry Fruit Salad

I was shopping in Sultan Center yesterday after work. We had a potluck and I wanted to make a fruit salad.. I was thinking hmmm ok pineapples, strawberries, papayas, and dragon fruit... hmmm no no! How about kiwi and strawberries.... until I saw the berries on the shelves.. they got my attention immediately and I was like "I wanna make berries fruit salad"

So I bought a pack each (two for strawberries)

At home, I washed them all and placed them in a bowl. I poured in two KDD Guava juice with 5 tbs rose water (optional). I drizzled the top with brown sugar and mixed.

Yummm! I am making another one soon for another potluck I am hosting :-D

I do have more recipes on my facebook group Ansam's Kitchen. Click on it if you ever wanna join and check out the pics & recipes :-)

"1986"

In my new job, I work with interesting people (good interesting that is)... they are different than the crowd I had in my previous job (and I miss you guys there a lot). One of the windows of our floor overlooks the building I used to work in and sometimes I tell my ex-coworkers to go by the window, and I count the floors to try hard and see them LOL... well anyways, back to my current job. An interesting and kinda weird conversation took place earlier today between me and a coworker....

OK so hes M... a junior, young (younger than moi), and always ready to help in brainstorming and is full of energy -mashalla-.... despite all of that he left me puzzled to the point where I am still thinking about what happened!

A: Check this Queen Rania's video... its awesome. I will email it to you all
After a while
M: Oh how sweet she is... I remember her from school :-)
A: You remember who? -puzzled-
M: Queen Rania
A: hahaha you are not serious, are you?
M: Yeah I am! She was with me in NES!
A: Do you know how old she is?
M: Yeah she was a senior while I was in middle school or soLink
A: No no really M! I am older than you right? How many years difference?
M: I dont know! I am bad in maths!!
A: Obviously! Come on... She is older than I am so there is no humanely way possible that she was with you in school. Maybe you went to the same school but shes older.. .MUCH older to be there in the same time you went to the school -I check Wikipedia, she was born in 1970-
M: OK.. maybe I was in KG not middle school!!
A: NO WAY! M!! Come on! Shes from different generation! You were born in 1986, she was born in 1970... when you were born she was 16... which means she was almost graduating from NES!!
M: Yeah! So? It means I just joined the school when she was in highschool!!
A: You went to school as a newborn? You dont make any sense?! -PUZZLED-
M: Maybe she did more after school studying I have her in the year book of 1994!
A: IN 1994!!! She would be 24! How many years did she fail for you to have her in your year book!

Problem is he was still going at it!!!

I gave up!

Work After Long Break!

So Eid break was long enough (or not) for me to relax. I went to a spa twice (guilty) and spent most of the time with my family… I also got to see few friends here and there during the break. Most of my family members were gone during this break (either to Haj or tourism) so it was quite quiet… and Eid was not the same without them! We also did not do our Eid rituals which includes lunch out at our usual restaurant during Eid. I missed that, and I went through sometimes where I missed them and hoped I traveled along with them…. Good thing is I got all kinda nice goodies from them as gifts (sogha) when they got back... heehee.

So last night we were united with the rest of the family. Some arrived early in the evening, others arrived at almost midnight…. So I stayed up till around 1:20ish with them and then online till after 2:00am… I slept like a baby and forgot to reset my recurrent alaram (which I set off during Eid break) and woke up at 7:15am to realize “IT’S SUNDAY” and jumped outta bed like crazy and was on my way to work by 8:00! I even grabbed a granola bar to munch on instead of having breakfast… then received an SMS from a co-worker saying “Starbucks?” and since its this time of the year (Holidays Season) I had a sudden urge for a toffee nut latte… that was just awesome cuz I was having the worst headache ever!

Right now I am sitting on my desk, enjoying a toffee nut latte (thanks to A :-*) and thinking of new year’s break :-P

Year's Biggest Full Moon Friday Night

My picture sucks and it does not do justice to what I saw earlier at the time... but at least tried!
It was beautiful.Link

I know this has nothing to do with it... but the song was playing in my head when I saw the moon earlier:

How to Break it Down by Queen Rania :-)

YALLA!

In The Past 24 Hrs

Yesterday, we visited my uncle who rented chalet at some resort. After lunch, my sister and I decided to take a walk in the resort and so we did with some family members. It was getting dark and the place was PACKED. We walked for like 20-30 mins before we decided to head back to the chalet... now picture this with me (and NO I am not exaggerating)...
We first passed by teenagers (around 16-17) who had their mobile phone in hand with the speaker on and some weird music playing

Then we came across two younger boys playing some Arabic-drum-like instrument (danabek)

After few steps... a young man in his 20s sitting in his pickup truck with the hubbly bubbly (argeela)

and many more scenes as we were walking but I cant recall at the moment!!!

AND

Earlier today, I went to the spa. Spa Time was fully booked so I went to a smaller one. After I checked in, I entered the spa reception area to find a middle age woman sleeping on the only coach there! I was gonna burst laughing at that scene but held it in me... she was all covered and the lights were dimmed I couldnt tell whether she had her eyes opened or closed! Then suddenly she moved and asked me in a very sleepy way;

"tabeeen teg3ideen?" (do you wanna sit?)

"etha fi majaal?" (if thats possible?)

And she started talking about many things that did not make any sense to me. I usually go to the spa to relax and not to mingle and make friends but she kept telling me things... things I cant really discuss here on the blog, about her daughters, and if its ok to have a body massage outside home in a spa, and other things... I even stopped making eye contact but she kept going at it, and then her phone rang and I was like PUHLLLEEEEEZ! this is a spa! Some people just dont get it. I was so happy when she left the room!

Weird scenes and weired people in less than 24 hrs is just too much to handle even after a relaxing massage!

Connections!

As received by email :-)
Happy Friendship Week/Day/Month (I keep on receiving this all year... anyone knows when is the real Friendship Day?)

What Do You Think?

I've just received this leaked picture of "airbrushed" Jessica Alba by email!
I honestly think she look FAB in the first picture! Why fake it! I hope they dont/didnt mention anything about how she manage to look this way (second picture) after the baby!

Random

Eid was quiet... most of the family are abroad or in their farm/chalet...etc. I did not do much.... just the usual rounds for whoever is in town with my parents. I kept thinking I should have traveled :-S Its one helluva long break! :-(

Whats up with Yahoo! Group random subscriptions! I will receive welcome email messages to random Yahoo! Groups when I did not even requested or subscribed to it! Ughhhhh! I may have blogged about it before but it is still going on and is driving me crazy! First you receive a welcome message then few (or more than few) email messages from members flooding your inbox... you look for the "unsubscribe me" email contact, you send them an email to unsubscribe, then they send you a request to confirm that you want to unsubscribe... and you reply to that ughhhhhhhh! How do I got to be in the group to begin with!? Do people randomly add you? Dont you have to go through confirming subscription? Whats the deal here?

I need to go to a spa badly! I will see if there are any available appointments :-S

Facebook! Yes, I have some 50 pending friend requests... I go through them between time to time to see which ones are from people I actually know to accept. My facebook contacts are all people I know or deal with... nothing wrong with that.... eh? Some request I leave pending because whenever I reject they try again! No hard feeling, but I cant accept you and give you access to my personal data/pics! Some would send me hate messages for not accepting LOL

I am craving hot coco most of the time because of this weather... isnt it amazing? I think I will fix me one at home tonight and sit out in the terrace listening to "Samry" music... which I have been listening to last night and this morning. I love it :-)

Ohhhh and I met a blogger's mother in my cousin's wedding. She is so so sweet :-) I usually ran into other bloggers but not this time....

I am planning something out and I have sent few bloggers (females) an email about it... not all of them got back to me. Can you all please check your email messages? Just in case you are one of those girls I sent an email to??? :-P

The Call

I did it! I called Dar Al-Sharg people :-) It was all with good intentions! I swear...

Since we, at fIVE60, were getting many inquiries about Dar Al-Sharg.. if they were part of us, or another branch... or why do we have the same "exact" idea... I decided to give them a call and see whats its all about.

I called the number listed on their group and got to talk to this very nice young man. Apparently, they have been getting similar questions as well!

It started off this way...

He told me that they share the same concept and that its not so unusual for two businesses with the same concept to be similar somehow. I explained to him that it was not just similar.... it was mirrored!! ALMOST exactly the same info and intro! I also offered to sit with them (my team and theirs) and find a common ground where people wont confuse the two ideas.

I also told him the market is open for everyone to come up with whatever they can offer... And that we knew, when we started that new idea/concept in Kuwait, a lot of similar businesses will surface, but stealing an identity will just hurt their image, and copy/paste is just a bad start... and that they should do something with the English used and all.

He was all ears and very easy to speak to. He also offered to help in anyway possible... which I find really cool! He said they are working on changing it already. So lets see how it goes from here!
