"Gather Ye Rosebuds While Ye May" is a poem by Robert Herrick. This poem portrays our existence on earth, and that people age as life goes on, and everything becomes boundless. Herrick here urges people to take advantage of youth and energy while they may! The poem is in the genre of carpe diem, to seize the day.

Communications "Skills"

Yes! A lot of sales people, call centers, waiters/waitresses, managers need it!

A new restaurants opens, my sister goes with her friends for breakfast and get mixed up orders THREE times! Not to mention the careless manager. They tell him we wont pay... he goes "be my guest". He does not even try to make it up to them

Telemarketers who cannot understand "NOT interested" and keep asking for a minute or two to at least convince me into getting their products! I mean they want me to buy new shampoo, I tell them I am bald, they still wanna talk!

Call centers! Yes, I ask about an offer, she goes the promotion period is over, I ask her what was it about, and she say why do you wanna know? ITS BECAUSE I WANNA KNOW! And its not like she ask why do you wanna know? She goes and interrupt me before I finish my question and tell me with a sarcastic tone that I am TOO late to be asking about it! What if I wanna understand the ad itself!

Its not just that! I go into the elevator and someone burps! WTH! No sorry no excuse me NO NOTHING!

Moral of the story: In these days of cost cutting, leave the office EARLY!

Random Thoughts!

ONE: How would you feel about someone who is clearly trying to test your stress level! Like testing his/her limits until you burst!? I am kinda stuck in such situation and as much as I try to smile back and be nice... it is still getting into me?? :-S

TWO: How would you feel when someone comes to you with simple-answer questions... and like come to you without being courteous enough to ask...

"Do you have a minute?"

"Can I ask you a question?"

"Are you busy?"

No... they just come and expect you to drop all for you to be free to help them out!

THREE: And how would you feel when someone ask you to check on something that you agree to check... and in return when you ask them to check from their side on something similar but they say its not in their area! Or they cant!?

FOUR: And how about when you see people taking credit for things you've done... as simple as good deeds, nice gestures, or even some things you've done!?

FIVE: Now imagine all that happen when your....
Stress levels are already SO HIGH,
You have personal problems (related to family health issues), and
You're not sleeping much

I keep on smiling and doing the best I can... I believe in Karma! I really do! So dont mess with me! Oh and I hurt myself while carrying loads of paper, talking on the phone, and holding my bag while going down the stairs...... OUCH!

"1986"

In my new job, I work with interesting people (good interesting that is)... they are different than the crowd I had in my previous job (and I miss you guys there a lot). One of the windows of our floor overlooks the building I used to work in and sometimes I tell my ex-coworkers to go by the window, and I count the floors to try hard and see them LOL... well anyways, back to my current job. An interesting and kinda weird conversation took place earlier today between me and a coworker....

OK so hes M... a junior, young (younger than moi), and always ready to help in brainstorming and is full of energy -mashalla-.... despite all of that he left me puzzled to the point where I am still thinking about what happened!

A: Check this Queen Rania's video... its awesome. I will email it to you all
After a while
M: Oh how sweet she is... I remember her from school :-)
A: You remember who? -puzzled-
M: Queen Rania
A: hahaha you are not serious, are you?
M: Yeah I am! She was with me in NES!
A: Do you know how old she is?
M: Yeah she was a senior while I was in middle school or soLink
A: No no really M! I am older than you right? How many years difference?
M: I dont know! I am bad in maths!!
A: Obviously! Come on... She is older than I am so there is no humanely way possible that she was with you in school. Maybe you went to the same school but shes older.. .MUCH older to be there in the same time you went to the school -I check Wikipedia, she was born in 1970-
M: OK.. maybe I was in KG not middle school!!
A: NO WAY! M!! Come on! Shes from different generation! You were born in 1986, she was born in 1970... when you were born she was 16... which means she was almost graduating from NES!!
M: Yeah! So? It means I just joined the school when she was in highschool!!
A: You went to school as a newborn? You dont make any sense?! -PUZZLED-
M: Maybe she did more after school studying I have her in the year book of 1994!
A: IN 1994!!! She would be 24! How many years did she fail for you to have her in your year book!

Problem is he was still going at it!!!

I gave up!

Work After Long Break!

So Eid break was long enough (or not) for me to relax. I went to a spa twice (guilty) and spent most of the time with my family… I also got to see few friends here and there during the break. Most of my family members were gone during this break (either to Haj or tourism) so it was quite quiet… and Eid was not the same without them! We also did not do our Eid rituals which includes lunch out at our usual restaurant during Eid. I missed that, and I went through sometimes where I missed them and hoped I traveled along with them…. Good thing is I got all kinda nice goodies from them as gifts (sogha) when they got back... heehee.

So last night we were united with the rest of the family. Some arrived early in the evening, others arrived at almost midnight…. So I stayed up till around 1:20ish with them and then online till after 2:00am… I slept like a baby and forgot to reset my recurrent alaram (which I set off during Eid break) and woke up at 7:15am to realize “IT’S SUNDAY” and jumped outta bed like crazy and was on my way to work by 8:00! I even grabbed a granola bar to munch on instead of having breakfast… then received an SMS from a co-worker saying “Starbucks?” and since its this time of the year (Holidays Season) I had a sudden urge for a toffee nut latte… that was just awesome cuz I was having the worst headache ever!

Right now I am sitting on my desk, enjoying a toffee nut latte (thanks to A :-*) and thinking of new year’s break :-P

Updates

I actually have nothing on my mind to post about but thought of updating you with whats going on in Ansam's Land :-P

I have been SUPER busy! I mean really really busy! Its my new job (which I am loving and learning from A LOT), getting to know people in the company and those who deal with the company. I work till 4:00ish on a normal day, but got held up a couple of times for a bit longer. I try to eat lunch at work, otherwise I really have no time... sometimes I will have back to back meetings right after I step out of the door of the office building. I wont be home till around 10:00PM! And if, IF, I get to go home... I will be super fast taking a shower, changing, and grabbing something to eat on the go (like an apple, banana, juice, plain bun...etc) and will head to a meeting or Kuwaiti style obligation (an obligation being like a baby reception or a funeral service... or so)... or just getting my nails and hair done (in two different parlors LOL) for a wedding or a party (YES! Wedding season is KILLING me... I am kind of running out of things to wear ughhhh).

When I do have few minutes off (YES FEW ONLY) I would simply lock myself up in my room and lay on my bed with my eyes closed... just few minutes!!! Oh and they do wonders (Remember, I like to have "Ansam's alone time").

I need to catch up with friends.... some of them are upset with me for actually asking them to take an appointment to see me!!! I do mean it, but not in the "appointment" sense. I mean I will be please specify the day and time you wanna meet so I can write it down in my agenda LOL! Thats how bad the situation is :-P

Oh and I am writing this post while eating and having my coffee (AKA mini break from work)

Ta Ta for now!

Proper Handover

Where I work, the floor is devided into two departments, us on the right, and the other department on the left. So earlier at work, I went to the kitchenette to fix my lunch, and I found this paper (picture above). I took a closer look and I see employees' names along with their locations and how they like their coffee/tea!

Me: Romeo, what's this paper for?
Romeo (our tea boy): Anthony made it ma'am.
Me: For what?
Romeo: You know when he was leaving for another job... he made this paper for the new tea boy so he knows his way around.
Me: Impressive!

That is what I call proper job handover... even those little details matter!
