Sick & Tired of Being Sick & Tired

I wanna be able to get some sleep to have some energy at work.. to be able to celebrate my birthday on Monday! I got sick on Thursday just in time for the weekend! My voice fluctuated! One minute its gone, then its back again... sometimes I sound really sick and other times I sound like a man! When I laugh, I laugh like "Courage the Cowardly Dog".... I feel weak and I walk around with a blanket... like a zombie! I can barely have my right eye opened! I look horrible, red eyes, nose, and pale! I can't sleep because I am in pain :'-(

*sniff sniff*

I really want to be able to sleep! I need REST :-S

Please please God.. make me feel better soooooon :-(

Does flushing the toilet cause dirty water to be spewed around the bathroom?

What is the one thing we use several times a day and probably do not think much about? Give up? It’s our toothbrush, that small slender little thing that some of us keep in our purses, some in their lunch pail and of course, we all have one in our bathrooms.

But, have you ever wondered what’s on your toothbrush? Bet, you haven’t!

Your toothbrush is a petri dish! Why? Well, for one thing it lives in an outhouse (bathroom,) if we carry it around with us it is usually in a closed zip lock bag or in a plastic container, with no room to breathe. Besides being confined, the poor thing gets hot and all kinds of things multiply on it!

Did you know some bacteria and viruses could survive for a week on a toothbrush? Yep! Such things as herpes simplex virus, influenza, and streptococcus, which leads to gum disease are just a few of the germs and bacteria that can lay in wait on your toothbrush.

Since most of us from the beginning of time have always kept our toothbrushes either in a toothbrush holder or in a glass container we share with others in the bathroom, the thought of germs never entered our minds.

A Brighter Day :-)

After those horrible 48 hrs, my dad decided to take me out to my grandma's house.... it was a good idea, and I saw the sun today after 48 hrs of darkness hehehe. Yeah, it was that bad.. I would wake up and eat or drink something just to be able to take meds and go back to my dark room and lay down or sleep... I would walk around with a blanket just in case I feel dizzy! Well, I had breakfast with dad and he was like "lets go to Mama Aisha!?"

I love going there, I was only worried about giving her my flu, so I sat away from here, watching her move around trying to feed us, hehehehe cute...

She would always serve us rahash "sweet tahini dessert" and Arabian coffee... sometimes dates and other kinds of gourmet chocolates. She would almost always give slices of sweet potatoes, pomegranates, pomelo... whichever season applies!

She is your old fashioned grandma, who tries to pull your skirt down while sitting next to you, hinting its short :-P Shes always wearing her traditional "dara'a and thoub".... ALWAYS!

I am glad I went out today.... it was a treat of some sun rays, fresh air, and sweets at grandma's!

I also feel much better and ready to go back to work tomorrow :-)

Still Sick :-(

I walk around with a blanket or a shawl and sit or lay down at any given opportunity because I cannot stand on my feet for too long, it would make me dizzy :-( I am sick of being sick... I missed two days of work already, and I am still sick. I went back again to the ER earlier today just to gain some energy to be able to go back to work tomorrow... and I ended up with more meds. I really wanna be back on my feet sooooo soon:-(

Do we have Airborne in Kuwait?

Not Feeling Well

I wasn't feeling well last night. Headache was killing me, and my throat felt like it was on fire. I used one of those cooling headache pads on my forehead and went to bed at around 10-10:30..

I woke up at 2:00am with muscle and bones aching, fever, headache, sore throat and ears' pain... I felt nauseous! I did not want to bother my parents since they are not feeling well, so I ended up calling my lil sister on her cell and she came in to the rescue. She gave me Panadol Cold & Flu, massaged my head... but I was nowhere near feeling any better, so at around 2:40am we decided to go to the ER.

I arrived with 38.6C fever, by the time I was in the examination room, my temperature was 39.5C. The doctor decided to give me some glucose or Panadol drip (I am not sure/cant really remember) and an injection. I was there till after 5:00am, dead tired and so weak. They managed to get my temperature down and released me with a two days rest note for work. I even suggested to go back to work on Monday if I get better, and the doctor said that I shouldn't. He even said I may need to come back if I dont get any better.

I went back home... the sun was almost up, I went back to bed and slept till 2:40PM!!!!! My mom just came in to check on me, and she said that her and dad came numerous times to check on me but I just did not move... She said my dad even stayed a while with me, tried to talk to me but with no response LOL!

My ears are still killing me, I have no appetite to eat anything (and acidity reflux is not helping)... but I have to since I have some medications to take! Ughhhh! I dont like being sick!

Random Thoughts!

ONE: How would you feel about someone who is clearly trying to test your stress level! Like testing his/her limits until you burst!? I am kinda stuck in such situation and as much as I try to smile back and be nice... it is still getting into me?? :-S

TWO: How would you feel when someone comes to you with simple-answer questions... and like come to you without being courteous enough to ask...

"Do you have a minute?"

"Can I ask you a question?"

"Are you busy?"

No... they just come and expect you to drop all for you to be free to help them out!

THREE: And how would you feel when someone ask you to check on something that you agree to check... and in return when you ask them to check from their side on something similar but they say its not in their area! Or they cant!?

FOUR: And how about when you see people taking credit for things you've done... as simple as good deeds, nice gestures, or even some things you've done!?

FIVE: Now imagine all that happen when your....
Stress levels are already SO HIGH,
You have personal problems (related to family health issues), and
You're not sleeping much

I keep on smiling and doing the best I can... I believe in Karma! I really do! So dont mess with me! Oh and I hurt myself while carrying loads of paper, talking on the phone, and holding my bag while going down the stairs...... OUCH!

Mecca Trip - Last Part

Overall... the trip was overwhelming! I prayed a lot to come back and visit. I hope I can make it next year for Haj (after that the weather is gonna be HOT HOT for Haj season).

Every time I pray now I get this feeling that I am facing Kaaba now (its visual now) :-D

The only downside to all of this that I came back sick. I got sick the day after we arrived, and I totally ignored it. I went to work for a couple of days, and was asked by one of the managers to go home and rest, but wanted to act all macho hehehe.... but what the hey!! I am only a human!!
Link
I went to the doctor yesterday who ended up giving me a two-day sick leave... he said I needed to rest. And so I did, because I find it hard to move out of bed. I feel so weak that my bones are hurting! I guess I was exposed to people from all over and my immune system is kind of weak... so go figure... but the whole trip is worth it! I am looking forward for the next one already :-D

My Toe!

I needed to have pedicure and manicure SO BAD.. so I called Nailtini for the 100,000,000,000,000 time (not really, but you get the idea) and they are fully booked on the times I like... their free openings are pretty late for me to go get treatment and relax, and I am starting to hate the fact that they welcome smokers! Whatta an atmosphere to relax. My second option is of course Queenails, but they are also fully booked (specially with Eid around the corner). So Foolishly I went ahead and booked an appointment in X nail salon that I heard was good, but never tried before or knew someone who actually tried it!

My manicure was not bad, but while I was getting my pedicure done, I felt pain while she was removing my cuticles! It felt like she was clipping the toe itself rather than the nail/cuticle!

I was wearing flip-flops... with no direct pressure on that toe, I went home and woke up the next day in pain! I changed for work and wore my closed toe shoes and it started to hurt... with time, I had to stay bare foot when sitting on my desk.. The pain kept getting worse and worse! I decided to do something about it.

I went fully dressed to the New Mowasat Hospital for my friend's baby reception, thinking I will pass by the ER on my way out to get some meds. The receptionist is TOO RUDE by the way! I dont know why he acted so unprofessional! Was it because I did not look sick and was too dressed to be in the ER or he was PMSing (I feel that SOME men DO have PMSing symptoms)... Well anyway, I was transfered to a general surgeon! Yes! It was not a nice harmless cut in my toe after all.

Anyway... the doctor was super nice and very friendly. He took swaps for tests in the labs and gave me some antibiotic and ointment. He also cut the swelling and cleaned it for me. I did not feel much pain and he was cheerful and talking to me randomly about stuff the whole time. He even asked me to take some pictures LOL!

Now... the question is... Should I just say it out loud! The Nail Salon name? Or should I keep my mouth shut? Should I call them up and complain!!!

Yasmina's Locks of Love

Last Saturday, four year old Yasmina (my cousin's daughter), had a big event! She had her very first haircut... and for a good cause too :-) She donated 11 inches of her hair to Locks of Love. Basically her mom and dad were talking about it for a while, how it is nice to donate locks of your hair to little kids who are sick and lost their hair due to sickness...

Yaya... very proud of you little princess :-)

Updates

I had a very long tiring week! Mostly at home in bed... I have been out of it for few days! Been sick :-( And was not able to go to work for three days (Mon - Wed). I could not even finish the paperwork for my new car, which I was waiting for since April, when the dealer called me on Sunday... I waited till Wednesday when I felt a little better!

So Sunday I had a couple of friends over. We spent our time in the kitchen making Quiches, waffles, and fruit salad. We had so much fun... at night my muscles cramps were getting worse... I could not sleep, and I could not get out of bed in the morning to go to work on Monday.

Tuesday, was even worse! Heartburn and achy allover. I went to see two doctors;
Doc #1: For my spasms. He told me I was stressed and very tensed... and that I looked tired and asked for some blood tests. I went to the lab, and my blood pressure was low, which is not unusual for me, so the nurse sticks the needle and NO BLOOD will come out. At this point I started laughing and my head was hurting (not a nice feeling to have a needle stuck in your arm and wait for blood to come out) so she tried with my other arm, and blood finally came but with SLOW FLOW! She told me the results would be out in a couple of hours.

So I went to see the other doctor, Doc #2, who immediately admitted me to the "One Day Case" unit for endoscopy! He was like since you are fasting lets go ahead and see whats wrong! The thing is I went to the hospital with the driver, and I asked him to go home and come back after two hours since I was told I will be under sedation. I called dad to come and asked Isaac to go. I went into the mini OR room, and the nurse was about to inject me with the sedative... I asked her: "When will I be sleeping" and then things started to get funny, I dont remember it all well, but I was awake at some points -flashes- here and there! I dont remember how I got back to my bed, but I heard my dad's voice "Excuse me nurse, where is Ansam?" so I opened my eyes and looked at dad approaching me and was waving with a stupid smile on my face LOL! I kept asking them to let me go but they wouldnt. They brought a wheelchair and I started laughing telling them I can walk fine, but they wouldnt let me...

My sweet daddy got my blood test results and we quickly went back to Doc #1. I am glad dad was with me to talk to the doctors because I really dont remember well what was going on around me... how I got to the car.. or left the pharmacy! I was in a good mood, and got two sick leaves (Doc #1 gave me three days, and Doc#2 gave me two days)... I tried to read through the reports and its funny how sometimes they say things like, "Patient was pale, but in a good mood...." or "She tolerated the procedure well!"

Anyhow... I am fine now, and I went to work yesterday! I had to go wrap things up before my leave... My manager and coworkers were extremely nice and tried their best to make sure that all is well with me...

Ohhhhh and another highlight of the week! I had to say goodbye to my old car.... who served me really really well since 2002. I would still see you at home (we still have it) so I will be saying hello to you between now and then...

Stupid Spasms :-(

Last weekend I went swimming and I got a very bad muscle cramp... I relaxed and it was gone. Then when we decided to race from one side to the other, and as I was swimming to the other side, it happened again but MUCH worse I thought I was gonna drawn :'-( it was really bad that I was gonna cry but resisted and played all mucho in front of my friends (opps! they may read this!) Oh well... it was bad, specially the second one. Felt like something was drilling into my calf hard. Later that night I started to feel pain in my muscles, which got worse at night (maybe because of the AC!)

At work, its freezing cold, and I was wearing a dress... got few cramps but tried to hold my horses and went to the staircase to sit a bit where its warm and under direct sunlight.

Last night I couldn't sleep! It kept hurting me, only now I am achy all over.. and have spasms in my legs! It was so bad that my muscles were stone hard.. one of them lasted more than 10 minutes I swear.... and then the worst happened... it reached my foot and it was so damn painful! I couldn't move out of bed until it was noon. I was also starving by then!

Now I have muscle ache all over, ear hurting like there is no tomorrow, and runny nose with some dry coughing... ughhhhhh! I dont like being sick!

My doctor is out of town, I am going to see his colleague, who will be able to check my history/files... last time something similar happened was five years ago, and turned out my body wasnt absorbing calcium due to deficiency in Vitamin D or something, but I also was sick with a very bad flu at the time! :-S

Randy Pausch

This is a very moving video! It reminded me of Tarek, my cousin who passed away earlier this year and suffered from pancreatic cancer! May his soul rests in peace.

The video below is called "The Last Lecture" given by Pausch!

I cried so much while watching this video! This man is such an inspiration! He is so brave and full of life. I admire him. He is also about few weeks younger than Tarek.

You can read more about him/The Last Lecture by clicking here.

Tears!

I think... well, hmm I believe I have an eye lash growing inside of my right eye! I even saw that eyelash/hair.. I was too afraid to take it out (OUCH!) so I went in to see an optometrist.

He really did not explain to me why I have this hair inside of my eyes! He said he could not see it! Even worse? He made fun of me and talked to me with a strict tone almost ALMOST saying that I was imagining things!!! HOW DARE HE! He was actualy rude saying his equipments are way better than me and that there was NOTHING in my eye!!!! I was angry LOL! I swear its there... my sister saw it! My cousin and my friend too. Well, anyhow... back to the subject, the doctor performed a Tear Break Up Time (TUBT) test. Basically, he inserted some sort of thin little fluorescent dye/paper into my eyes to observe the tear layer of both eyes. He explained that test help determine how long it takes for tears to break up on the front of the eye after your blink. My tears dry out in a second or less! He told me I have DRY eyes because the sooner the tears dissipate the dryer your eyes are. A normal TBUT is 15 seconds. If my TUBT was seven or six seconds I have to blink twice as much... but with my one second I guess I have to close my eyes all the time and sleep... skip work for that matter LOL!

Thankfully! I do not have to live with blinking every second! I am using Tears Naturale Free drops to moisten my eyes! Artificial tears so to speak! So I am literally carrying tears in my purse all the time! Don't agitate me or else I will cry... artificially or not! Still... I have tears on the go! :-P

I do drink lots of water daily, but I also have to consider few things, such as avoiding to stay infront of the computer for long hours, which is kinda hard in my case considering my job and all... also, when turning on the A/C in the car, I should not let the air hit my eyes directly!
