"Gather Ye Rosebuds While Ye May" is a poem by Robert Herrick. This poem portrays our existence on earth, and that people age as life goes on, and everything becomes boundless. Herrick here urges people to take advantage of youth and energy while they may! The poem is in the genre of carpe diem, to seize the day.

Copycats!
Earlier this year Wataniya had those similar to "Baby On Board" ads stuck on windows on randomly chosen cars with funny quotes referring to life on the internet. Yesterday VIVA came up with a copied idea of the ads.. only with different color and text! This is ridiculously funny! Can they be more creative than this? And this happened when I was all about how I love their VIVA Internet - Anytime Anywhere ad campaign! Why take a step back! Why COPY!!

The Call
I did it! I called Dar Al-Sharg people :-) It was all with good intentions! I swear...
Since we, at fIVE60, were getting many inquiries about Dar Al-Sharg.. if they were part of us, or another branch... or why do we have the same "exact" idea... I decided to give them a call and see whats its all about.
I called the number listed on their group and got to talk to this very nice young man. Apparently, they have been getting similar questions as well!
It started off this way...
He told me that they share the same concept and that its not so unusual for two businesses with the same concept to be similar somehow. I explained to him that it was not just similar.... it was mirrored!! ALMOST exactly the same info and intro! I also offered to sit with them (my team and theirs) and find a common ground where people wont confuse the two ideas.
I also told him the market is open for everyone to come up with whatever they can offer... And that we knew, when we started that new idea/concept in Kuwait, a lot of similar businesses will surface, but stealing an identity will just hurt their image, and copy/paste is just a bad start... and that they should do something with the English used and all.
He was all ears and very easy to speak to. He also offered to help in anyway possible... which I find really cool! He said they are working on changing it already. So lets see how it goes from here!
I hope they change their last line -the "We are on TOP" or so- (check the pic in my previous post) not because its gonna affect us at FIVE60... but because its just a bad defense mechanism!

Guess The Price!

How much do you think this cup is worth?
Its white porcelain with "gold/platinum" ring and a genuine sparkling Swarovski crystal as the "diamond".
I found three Kuwait-based websites that sells it;
1. Pick Your Tag, for KWD10.000,
2. Dekkany for a discounted price of KWD8.000 (was KWD18.000), and
3. Pink Polka Dot Shop for KWD6.500
Our of curiosity, I searched some US based websites for a price and found it in Wishing Fish selling for USD14.95.... That is KWD4.000 for you ;-)

BCBG Kuwait = Big Crooks Big Gyp
I bought this dress, this shoe, and this bag.
My total was around KWD 364
And if you add up all these items from the links I provided.. they total to USD 871.60 (which is equivelant to KWD 238.909)
Thats over KWD 100 difference! BCBG Kuwait SUCKS! Who agrees?
GOD! Can I just return them all!!!!

IKEA Laundry Rack/Basket... whatever!

Dreamy! Yes its another post about Landry Baskets heehee!! But as you said, there is a hidden lesson here :-P And Fayoora, this is the IKEA one you are talking about. My friend was in IKEA and told me that there is a similar Laundry Basket to the one I posted about for 750 fils!! I was like WHAT!!!!!! and then I asked him to take pictures, which he did... obviously :-P
Well... this Rack is is somewhat similar but not the same...! Not like the picture I posted on my blog... but 750 fils! WOW! That is MUCH lower than mine! I mean I paid KWD 17.000 (check my previous post http://ansam518.blogspot.com/2007/07/spot-differences.html)
My sister's rack is almost the same - less than KWD 4.000 - Option A
IKEA Rack somewhat the same - KWD 0.750 - Option B
With the KWD 17.000 I could have bought 4.3 Option A racks (keep the 0.3 part for later)
Also, with KWD 17.000 I could have bought 22.7 Option B racks (also the 0.7 part is needed)
If I added 0.3 and 0.7 (both from Option A and Option B respectively) I would get ONE Option AB rack... If you dont get it, just ignore it... its me being silly and angry!!
Ohh and yes, thank you Abz for the pics ;-)

Spot The Differences
Well.. the one on the left is bigger....
I was shopping at the Avenues last Tuesday and got the one on the left from "The ZONE" (the store is right below MAKI) for KWD 17.000
My sister found the one on the right in Al Faiha Coop. and bought. She came home and asked me... "How much do think this is for? a little bit below KWD 4.000!!!!"
Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Shop smart people, and know where to shop! Its just a laundry rack, and they are practically almost the same.

Coffee
I have been a regular on Starbucks for so long. I love their Sumatra coffee the best and their Ice-shaken. Their food selection is not bad and varies depending on which country you are in. In those years I would go to Starbucks minimum once per week, and during which I would also go to other coffee shops.. I think it was the fact the Starbucks grew on me! But then I realized.. this isn't the best coffee in the world!! Really!
