"Gather Ye Rosebuds While Ye May" is a poem by Robert Herrick. This poem portrays our existence on earth, and that people age as life goes on, and everything becomes boundless. Herrick here urges people to take advantage of youth and energy while they may! The poem is in the genre of carpe diem, to seize the day.

Dressing:
2 TBS light mayo
4 spoons sugar
A dash of pepper (I used the mixed five ground peppers)
Skimmed milk

1 small KDD tomato paste
Salt and Pepper

Method:
*Preheat oven to 170C
*Cut the tomatoes and bell peppers (decap'em) and emtpy them from the inside (keep the tomatoes insides)
*Cook rice, but dont over cook it because you will let it cook more in the oven
*In a pan heat oil with onions and then cook in the ground beef, salt and pepper, spices, and half of the tomato's insides
*In another sauce pan, heat oil with green onions, spices, and tomato paste. Add 1 cup of water gradually to the mix

I think on that day we had it stuffed with tomatoes, green onions, lettuce, tomatoes, cheddar cheese, beans, ground beef (chili)

Sweet & Sour Chicken with a Twist
*********************************
Get chicken breast, cut them into small pieces, drizzle'em with salt and pepper + garlic

In a bowl mix mustard, honey, basil, parsley, and oregano

Guess The Price!

How much do you think this cup is worth?
Its white porcelain with "gold/platinum" ring and a genuine sparkling Swarovski crystal as the "diamond".

I found three Kuwait-based websites that sells it;
1. Pick Your Tag, for KWD10.000,
2. Dekkany for a discounted price of KWD8.000 (was KWD18.000), and
3. Pink Polka Dot Shop for KWD6.500

Our of curiosity, I searched some US based websites for a price and found it in Wishing Fish selling for USD14.95.... That is KWD4.000 for you ;-)

What Do You Think?

Thanks Powder!

Re: Signs

More than a year ago I blogged about Signs in Kuwait.

I wrote this:

"Gulf Road changes first to Blajat Street and then to "Cooperative Road"!! OK so, why Cooperative and not Al Ta'awon? Cooperative Road sounds funny to me!! And why not Khaleej Road!?!!? I mean worldwide the street names wont get translated into other languages!! Its a name! I dont say my name in Breeze in English! I am still Ansam, in all languages!!!"

Guess what? With the new construction in Al Beda'a area, I saw a new sign with "Al Ta'awon" (I cant remember how they spelled it) instead of Cooperative!!!! I will try to snap a pic when I pass by the new sign :-) and I was thrilled cuz I really wanted it to change!!! YAY for me!

My Toe!

I needed to have pedicure and manicure SO BAD.. so I called Nailtini for the 100,000,000,000,000 time (not really, but you get the idea) and they are fully booked on the times I like... their free openings are pretty late for me to go get treatment and relax, and I am starting to hate the fact that they welcome smokers! Whatta an atmosphere to relax. My second option is of course Queenails, but they are also fully booked (specially with Eid around the corner). So Foolishly I went ahead and booked an appointment in X nail salon that I heard was good, but never tried before or knew someone who actually tried it!

My manicure was not bad, but while I was getting my pedicure done, I felt pain while she was removing my cuticles! It felt like she was clipping the toe itself rather than the nail/cuticle!

I was wearing flip-flops... with no direct pressure on that toe, I went home and woke up the next day in pain! I changed for work and wore my closed toe shoes and it started to hurt... with time, I had to stay bare foot when sitting on my desk.. The pain kept getting worse and worse! I decided to do something about it.

I went fully dressed to the New Mowasat Hospital for my friend's baby reception, thinking I will pass by the ER on my way out to get some meds. The receptionist is TOO RUDE by the way! I dont know why he acted so unprofessional! Was it because I did not look sick and was too dressed to be in the ER or he was PMSing (I feel that SOME men DO have PMSing symptoms)... Well anyway, I was transfered to a general surgeon! Yes! It was not a nice harmless cut in my toe after all.

Anyway... the doctor was super nice and very friendly. He took swaps for tests in the labs and gave me some antibiotic and ointment. He also cut the swelling and cleaned it for me. I did not feel much pain and he was cheerful and talking to me randomly about stuff the whole time. He even asked me to take some pictures LOL!

Now... the question is... Should I just say it out loud! The Nail Salon name? Or should I keep my mouth shut? Should I call them up and complain!!!

Blocking Youtube!

I think this is the dumbest decision ever made when it comes to blocking offensive sites... whats next? Blogs!!! Limewire!!!

Man this is ridiculous... no, no, no... its is ridiculously sad! Who comes up with such decisions! Isnt youtube also full of videos supporting Islam, Muslims, and Arabs! Why take the negative part?!?! Was it because of the Quranic verses read in melodic background? The video was removed for God's sake? You only need to report offensive videos and your voice will sure be heard!

I am hating this SO MUCH! Ughhhhhhhhh!

UPDATE: They canceled! Its not blocked... YAY

Gulf Region Facing Tsunami Threat

I read this earlier today on Intlxpatr's blog.

Expert warns of powerful earthquakes in Strait of Hormuz

Al Watan staff

KUWAIT: A leading Kuwaiti expert on earthquakes has warned that the Gulf region may face a devastating earthquake that could measure 7.0 on the Richter scale and cause a devastating tsunami.

Dr. Feryal BuRabee said the prospect of such an eventuality is great, particularly since repeated earthquakes have been reported in the Hormuz Strait.

Stressing that such a forecast must be taken seriously; the expert said the shallowness of the area where the earthquakes took place makes the possibility of repeat earthquake very likely.

"Though there were no huge losses from the 6.0 degree earthquake that took place on Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2008, experts should realize that such a sequential order of earthquakes began since early August and still continues to date," said BuRabee.

She recalled that an earthquake measuring 5.7, which is part of this sequential order of quakes, took place on Sept. 17.

Tired

Its already Thursday (really early Thursday) and I am dead tired... I have been doing the yearly Ramadan rounds of visiting family to congratulate them and its tiring!
I am almost done, but I come home really tired that I just wanna throw myself on the bed and sleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep! I am sleep deprived and the traffic jam is killing me!

Its crowded in the morning on my way to work,
crowded in the elevators at work, and
TOO crowded to go back home after work

I attached few pics..., check out this cat that scared the hell outta me when I reached home last night! Oh and then I was home looking at the door and thought hmmm chocolate bar! Doesn't it look like one? LOL

I need a massage, only I am too tired to have one! Does this make any sense? And I am also thirsty throughout the day.. Thank God I have no caffeine addiction *phew*

And I have been overdosing on ilgaimat (Kuwaiti Dessert). Its like I break my fast with them, and have'em again for dessert.. .. This is bad :-S

Hows Ramadan going with all of you?

Serivce Charge is NOT Illegal

Yes.. You read it right, service charge in restaurants in Kuwait is NOT illegal! I called 135 earlier today myself and inquired about it. He explained that a service charge around 10-15% charge is not illegal, in fact its an exchange of service for them to provide you with table, bread, butter, and sometimes water.. that kinda service when you DINE IN the restaurant!

Reason I called them up is because I kept receiving this email that has been circulating around, and also a facebook message about it.

So just to clarify things... its legal :-)
