Ansam = Male or Female?

This is a question to you all... specially the non-Arabic speakers;

Ansam... sounds masculine or feminine to you?

Apparently they thought I was a male and corrected it when they saw me... hehehe The lady kept telling me how sorry she is, I was not upset but kept wondering about it, specially when this happened twice in May so far.. There is this nice lady who works in HR and only contacted me by email, so I pick up the phone to call her because I wanted to ask her a question and she was shocked to her a female voice! LOL

Tell me?

  1. In Spanish female names usually finish with an ‘a’. I have no idea what to think. For me Ansam was always female, but that is because I knew you and your name at the same time.

  9. could be both ...
    but if I would not know that you are female and only see the name I would tend to male... sorry ...!
    But I have this as well ... I have a firstname that for some reasons people consider female as well (specially when spelled wrong)... and no ... it's not 'Evil' :P

  10. I would have thought it was a male name. No particular reason, to me (native English speaker) it just has a masculine sound.

    On the other hand, I don't know any makes who would use the theme "gather ye rosebuds while ye may!"
